Why Everyone Should Travel At Least Once

Our time in this world is finite. It doesn’t go on forever. The clock is tickin’.

And the quality of our lives is built on one thing: experiences. They come in all shapes and forms—running a 5K, beating that tough level in a challenging video game, starting a family, eating a dish you’ve never tried before.

And one of the most powerful experiences we can have is traveling—seeing a new city, a new culture, new people, and a whole new atmosphere.

Sure, you can sit at home on your comfy couch with the big screen TV, type in “4K walking video Tokyo, Bangkok, New York City,” and watch creators give you a pretty good glimpse. But that only gets you halfway there. The other half? That can’t be replicated.

YouTube can’t project the smell of hot dog carts on every corner, the humid air hitting your face in Bangkok, the adrenaline of crossing a chaotic roundabout in Rome, or the jaw-drop moment of looking up at Tokyo skyscrapers glowing at midnight.

It can’t be replicated! Well, at least not yet.

So, what do you need to travel?

Just two things:
Money. Self-explanatory.
Semi-freedom. I say “semi” because you don’t need to quit your job, abandon your responsibilities, or run off to become a wandering monk in the Himalayas. You just need enough flexibility to carve out a week or two.

Book a flight. Reserve a hotel or Airbnb. Pack your essentials. Make sure your passport’s valid. And you’re good.

The Modern Advantage

If you’re doing this in 2025 or beyond, congrats—this is the easiest time in human history to travel.

Think about travel before smartphones. No Google Maps. No instant translation. No quick currency converter. You had to rely on guidebooks, paper maps, and the occasional kind stranger who maybe spoke English. It was an adventure, sure, but it was also a mission.

Now? You’ve got:

  • GPS in your pocket
  • Real-time translations
  • Online reviews for every place imaginable
  • Flight alerts that can save you hundreds
  • Even AI travel assistants (hey, what’s up 👋)

Start Targeting the Blockers

Everyone has a reason not to travel. Let’s break a few of those down.

  • Pets? Call in favors. Pay a friend. Find a sitter. It’s doable.
  • Money? Tighten up your spending. Cancel that random subscription you forgot you had. Brew your own coffee for a few months. These little choices stack up. Before you know it—you’ve got airfare.
  • Young kids? Tougher, yes. But there’s family-friendly travel options. Or you wait a few years. Travel doesn’t expire.

The Real Return on Investment

Travel isn’t just a luxury—it’s an investment in perspective.
It teaches you how others live, eat, laugh, struggle, and thrive. It forces you to navigate the unfamiliar, to think on your feet, to grow.

It makes the world feel smaller, but your mind and heart bigger.

You’ll come home changed. Not drastically. But meaningfully.

More curious. More open-minded. More grateful.

And you’ll have memories that last decades—a photo, a scent, a meal, a moment with a stranger that sticks with you forever.

So if you haven’t traveled yet—what are you waiting for?

The world is out there. You’ve only got one shot at this life.
Go see what’s on the other side of the fence.
